Whew. This week has flown by. Between trying to stay on top of my new workout routine, eating better, being a mom and wife, I am EXHAUSTED. I have however stayed consistent. I can’t say that I love waking up at 6 AM but I know I have to do it if I want the results I have been longing for. There have been a couple of days where I walked to the bathroom, turned my alarm off and crawled right back into bed. Did I mention it’s cold and snowy here? My warm cozy bed was calling me. BUT I did not stay in for long. I gave myself 5-10 minutes to bask in the coziness and then got my ass out of bed to get those workouts in!

I’ve really been enjoying following fitbymik on YouTube. Her workout videos are easy to follow, pleasant to listen to and offer variety. So far I have done full body workouts, arms and abs, legs thighs and glutes and her stretching videos. She even has some pregnancy friendly workouts for those that are expecting. Along with my strength training workouts I also walk on my walking pad 15-20 minutes at a time 3x per day. I walk in the morning before weightlifting, after lunch and after dinner. This helps with digestion and also keeps the blood flowing on rest days. I will typically walk around 3 mph.

What have I been eating you ask? You guys, I LOVE food. Diets do not work for me. I have tried so many in the past and I can never stick with it. I always end up depriving myself of the foods I love, can’t resist anymore and indulge. I mean, INDULGE. So, what I have focused on instead is smaller portion sizes and TRYING to add in more whole foods. Even though I love food I am also a fairly picky eater. So this has been hard. I’ve been reading that eating more protein everyday not only keep you fuller longer but also helps keep sustained energy during workouts AND helps build and repair muscle tissue. An added benefit is that protein boosts metabolism which helps to burn calories. Exactly what I want! My husband and I are starting to meal prep and I have found and saved so many good recipes by Makayla Thomas. Her recipes look so easy and delicious. I’ve not tried them yet so more to come on those reviews. To help keep dishes at bay we purchased a Blackstone table top griddle. You can purchase anywhere but of course we bought ours from Amazon. What don’t we buy from Amazon? Here is the link for what we bought. Blackstone Griddle

What I love about this griddle is that it’s a decent size. You can certainly cook a lot on it. It has a heating unit on each side. It’s not overly heavy and so easy to clean! I’ve also been experimenting with cottage cheese recipes. I will be honest and tell you I do NOT like cottage cheese. I think alone, it is disgusting. But it’s healthy, so I am trying. Last night I made blueberry cottage cheese muffins. They are actually pretty good and my kids really liked them! I got the recipe by slimming violet on Pinterest. slimmingviolet.com As I find recipes or workouts that I love, I’ll be talking about those more in my future posts.

With that I leave you with a motivational quote.
